Khichuri Recipe is a very well known main course recipe for Puja Festivals. Also we make khichdi on rainy season. Specially Bengali Khichuri is very popular and very tasty delicious food. For puja festivals we make Veg Khichdi or Niramish Bhoger Khichuri by using all vegetables.

Ingredients of Bhoger Khichuri Recipe for Puja Parbons

  1. Gobindo bhog Rice (200 gm).
  2. Moong dal / Split green gram (150 gm).
  3. Potato.
  4. Pumpkin.
  5. Cauliflower.
  6. Beans.
  7. Green peas.
  8. Raw papaya.
  9. Carrot.
  10. Green chilli (5/6).
  11. Sliced tomato (1 big size).
  12. Cumin seeds (½ tsp).
  13. Garam masala.
  14. Bay leaves (2 to 3 pieces).
  15. Dry red chilli (2 to 3 pieces).
  16. Turmeric powder (1 tsp).
  17. Cumin powder (1 tsp).
  18. Red chilli powder (1 tsp).
  19. Ginger paste (2 tsp).
  20. Grated coconut (1 cup).
  21. Garam masala powder (1 tsp).
  22. Ghee (4 tbsp).
  23. Salt (as per your taste).
  24. Sugar (as per your taste).
  25. Refined oil.

Making of Niramish Khichuri Recipe


Dry roast the moong dal for 5 min in medium flame. Then wash it in water and dry in air.


Add refined oil in pan and fry cauliflower for 5 to 7 min in medium flame. Keep aside.



Fry all vegetable like potato, carrot, beans, raw papaya, and pumpkin very well. Add ¼ tsp of salt when frying. Keep another bowl.



Now add 2 tbsp oil and 2 tbsp ghee in hot pan. Add bay leaves, dry red chilli, ½ tsp cumin seeds and whole garam masala. Fry for 30 sec.



Add sliced tomato and fry for 1 min in medium flame.



Add 2 tsp ginger paste and fry for 1 min in medium flame.



Add 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder. Add some water and cook for 2 min in medium flame.



Add grated coconut and fry it again for 2 to 3 minutes.



Now add soaked rice and dal and cook for 3 to 4 min in medium flame. Add 5 cup hot water. Mix it well.



When boiling add 1 tsp salt and green chilli. Cover the lid and cook for 5 min in medium flame.



After 5 minutes add all fried vegetables, green peas and 1.5 cup water. Stir it very well.



Close the lid and cook for 10 min in medium flame.



After 10 min add 2 tbsp sugar and 1.5 cup hot water. Stir it very well.



Close the lid and cook for 10 min in sim mode.



After 10 min add 2 tbsp ghee and 1 tsp garam masala powder. Mix it well.



Put off gas oven. Cover it for 5 min.



After 5 min serve Vegetable Khichuri it hot with Labra, Niramish Alur Dum, Beguni etc.
